An 84 mm shoulder-fired reloadable recoilless rifle produced in Sweden. The first prototype of the Carl Gustaf was produced in 1946 and it has evolved into the M3 variant, a potent and versatile multi-purpose weapon system. Still in use throughout the world, its ammunition is continually being updated with a variety of anti-armor, anti-structure, and anti-personnel rounds.

PRIMAL Assessment
The latest version of the Carl Gustav (often known simply as ‘the 84’) are currently in use with most Special Operations Forces throughout the world which is a solid indication of its effectiveness. Limitations include its weight and back blast, firing from inside structures is not recommended unless employing the new ‘confined spaces’ round.
