E-3 SENTRY

Description

The E-3 Sentry, also known as AWACS (airborne warning and control system), is a Boeing 707 carrying a huge radar dish. It’s designed to detect and coordinate aircraft.

PRIMAL Assessment

PRIMAL has no AWACS capability. The E-3 can track aircraft movement out to 650km depending on the target’s altitude and can be a significant counter-intelligence threat if they are flying in the vicinity of PRIMAL missions. Passive sensors are able to detect AWACS and provide early warning and deployment of defensive measures.
