HC-144 OCEAN SENTRY

Description

The Ocean Sentry is a US Coast Guard aircraft purpose-built to detect sea-going vessels. It can direction find the identification beacon used my most vessels, has sophisticated infra-red/electro-optical cameras, and a multi-mode search radar. Its only weakness is the lack of weaponry.

PRIMAL Assessment

The fact that the Ocean Sentry is designed for drug and migrant interdiction as well as search and rescue, makes it a significant threat to clandestine sea-borne assets. Certain Ocean Sentry capabilities including the IR/EO cameras are similar to those integrated into the Pain Train and Sleek. Ocean Sentry aircraft are, where possible, to be avoided. However, they are vulnerable to tactics that include spoofing and decoy deployment. Vessels trying to avoid detection should switch off their Automatic Identification System beacons.
