Description
The EA-6B Prowler is a dedicated Electronic Warfare aircraft operated by the US Navy, US Marine Corps and joint USAF/USN squadrons. Its primary role is as an electronic jamming aircraft for the suppression of enemy air defenses. Almost every strike package during OPERATION ALLIED FORCE over Kosovo contained Prowlers. The Prowler is being replaced by the Super Hornet-based EA-18 Growler and eventually these dedicated jamming platforms will be replaced by systems integrated into the F-35 and unmanned aircraft. |
PRIMAL Assessment
The PAIN TRAIN has an integrated electronic warfare capability that operates in a similar manner to the EA-6B. It gives the aircraft limited EW capabilities including the ability to spoof radars, enabling it to infiltrate hostile airspace or evade hostile fighter aircraft. |
