STERLING SUBMACHINE GUN

Description

A British 9mm submachine gun introduced at the end of World War Two. Essentially an updated version of the famous Sten gun. Key identifier is the curved side-feeding magazine. Dropped from service by the UK in 1994 due to the introduction of the SA-80. Available in both a fully suppressed and a 7.62mm battle rifle model. Of note the weapon was used in the Star Wars movies by Imperial Storm Troopers.

PRIMAL Assessment

Cheap, reliable and highly suitable for ‘spray and pray’ techniques employed by paramilitary and other poorly trained elements. Side feeding magazine makes it difficulty to wield in close terrain (jungle and urban) and it lacks an ambidextrous capability. The 9mm round will not defeat modern body armor.
