VIPER STRIKE

Description:

The Viper Strike is a small precision-guided bomb that is dropped from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or Gunship Close-Air-Support platforms such as the MC-130W. It uses GPS-guidance initially before following a laser beam for terminal guidance. Its 2 pound warhead is powerful enough to destroy most small bunkers and vehicles.

PRIMAL Assessment:

Viper Strike's small size and accuracy gives PRIMAL's Close-Air-Support platform, the Pain Train, the capability to destroy individual targets with minimal collateral damage. At only 42lbs per bomb, the Pain Train could theoretically carry large numbers of this weapon, depending on its palette configuration and other loads. The actual operational Viper Strike bomb relies on following a laser beam, however early designs had an imaging infra-red sensor that allowed the weapon to 'fire-and-forget' and home in on a target without using a laser, and this is closer to what the Pain Train uses in PRIMAL Unleashed.
